Current Phonak technology in Lawrenceville, GAPhonak’s newest family is EON, led by Audéo EON Sphere. It adds a new HYPERSONIC AI chip, Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0, AutoSenseOS AI 8.0 and direct Auracast broadcast audio, while Phonak’s Infinio and custom Virto products remain part of the current lineup.
Gwen Cantrell, BC-HIS, fits Phonak based on hearing loss, speech-in-noise needs, ear anatomy, phone compatibility and daily listening demands—not simply because a model is the newest.

Audéo EON Sphere — Phonak’s Newest Flagship

Audéo EON Sphere is the newest Phonak Sphere generation. Its dedicated HYPERSONIC AI chip runs Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0, which Phonak says separates speech from background noise in real time from any direction. The main EON platform also introduces AutoSenseOS AI 8.0.
- Dedicated AI processing: HYPERSONIC is reserved for Sphere’s speech-from-noise processing.
- Smaller Sphere design: Phonak reports the new Sphere is 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous Sphere generation.
- Direct Auracast: EON can receive supported Auracast broadcast audio in public and shared spaces.
- All-day rechargeable use: Phonak rates EON Sphere for up to 38 hours on a full charge, depending on use.
- EasyGuard compatibility: sealed-dome receiver protection is intended to simplify wax management.

Audéo EON R and CROS EON
Audéo EON R
EON R uses Phonak’s new AutoSenseOS AI 8.0 platform without the dedicated Sphere chip. It is a fully rechargeable RIC for mild-to-profound hearing loss and supports Phonak’s broad Bluetooth approach, Auracast broadcast audio and RogerDirect.
Battery: up to 38 hours per Phonak. CROS: compatible with CROS EON.
CROS EON
CROS EON is for people with single-sided deafness or an unaidable ear when the opposite ear can receive the transmitted signal. The transmitter sends sound from the poorer-hearing side to a compatible Audéo EON R on the better side.
Whether CROS or BiCROS is appropriate depends on the hearing in both ears; this should be decided from testing, not from the product name alone.
Infinio Ultra — Still Current, Now the Previous Sphere Generation
Infinio Ultra did not suddenly become a poor choice because EON arrived. Phonak still lists Infinio Ultra R and Infinio Ultra Sphere in its current U.S. portfolio. The important change is positioning: EON Sphere is now the newest flagship, while Infinio Ultra Sphere remains the previous Sphere generation.
Infinio Ultra Sphere
Uses Phonak’s dedicated DEEPSONIC DNN chip and Spheric Speech Clarity 2.0 for real-time speech/noise separation. Phonak rates it for up to 56 hours of battery life, considerably longer than the new smaller EON Sphere’s maximum rating.
Infinio Ultra R
Uses AutoSenseOS 7.0 and universal connectivity without the dedicated Sphere processing chip. Phonak rates it for up to 31 hours and lists compatibility with CROS Infinio.
Virto R Infinio — Rechargeable Custom Phonak
Virto R Infinio brings Phonak’s automatic processing and universal connectivity into a rechargeable custom in-the-ear shell. It is built from the individual ear rather than using a standard behind-the-ear housing.
- Custom-made fit for mild-to-profound hearing losses, subject to ear anatomy and fitting range.
- AutoSenseOS 7.0 automatic environmental processing.
- Universal Bluetooth connectivity and myPhonak support.
- Rechargeable magnetic charging system.
Custom does not always mean smaller or better. Gwen checks canal size, venting, wax, own-voice comfort, dexterity and power requirements before recommending a custom shell.

Bluetooth, Auracast and the myPhonak App

Connectivity remains one of Phonak’s strongest practical differentiators. EON uses Phonak’s Made For All connectivity approach with Classic Bluetooth and adds Auracast broadcast audio. That means compatible EON hearing aids can stream calls and media from many Bluetooth devices while also being ready for Auracast broadcasts in supported venues.
The myPhonak app provides volume and program control, battery information and supported remote-care functions. Exact features depend on the hearing aid, phone and operating system, so Gwen pairs and tests the patient’s actual phone during fitting rather than assuming compatibility from a brochure.
Roger Wireless Microphones — When Distance Is the Real Problem
Phonak’s Roger ecosystem remains one of the strongest reasons to consider the brand for people who struggle across distance or in severe background noise. Roger microphones transmit a speaker directly to compatible hearing aids through RogerDirect, reducing the acoustic distance between the speaker and listener.
Where Roger can matter
- Meetings and conference tables
- Restaurants and family gatherings
- Lectures, classes and presentations
- Cars and other difficult distance situations
Why it can outperform a hearing-aid upgrade
If the main problem is that the desired speaker is several feet away, improving the signal at the source can be more useful than buying a higher technology level and leaving the distance unchanged.
Charging and EasyGuard

Phonak offers standard and portable charging options for EON. Phonak’s professional documentation lists the portable ChargerGo RIC E as providing up to three full recharges away from an outlet. That can matter for travel and long days away from home.
EON also supports EasyGuard domes, which use a sealed sound-transmitting membrane to help keep earwax out of the receiver while letting sound pass through.

How Gwen Fits Phonak at Hearing Aid Factory Outlet
Premium technology only works as well as the fitting. Gwen does not stop at the manufacturer’s first-fit screen. A Phonak fitting can include:
- Diagnostic hearing evaluation to determine hearing thresholds and the shape of the loss.
- Speech and speech-in-noise testing when appropriate, especially if the patient’s main complaint is restaurants, groups or distance.
- Real Ear Measurement to measure the hearing aid’s actual output in the ear canal and compare it with evidence-based targets.
- Phone, myPhonak and Bluetooth setup using the patient’s own devices.
- Accessory planning for Roger, CROS, TV or charging needs.
- Follow-up adjustments after the patient has worn the hearing aids in real life.

Our Relationship With Phonak
Hearing Aid Factory Outlet carries Phonak alongside Starkey and Signia. Gwen works with manufacturer representatives and product resources to stay current on fitting, software, accessories and new releases. That matters because the recommendation can stay patient-centered: if Phonak’s connectivity, Roger ecosystem, CROS options or sound processing fit the patient best, we can use Phonak; if another manufacturer fits better, we can say that too.
