Some patients need professional hearing care but cannot reasonably travel to the Lawrenceville office because of limited mobility, illness, transportation difficulties, caregiving responsibilities or another significant circumstance. Our in-home hearing-care service brings appropriate appointments and hearing-aid support to the patient.
For an adult living with memory loss or dementia, a home visit can also reveal who manages charging, where devices are stored and whether the routine is realistic. Read our guide to hearing aids for seniors with memory loss or dementia.
Who in-home visits are designed for
- Homebound or mobility-limited adults
- Patients recovering from an illness, injury or procedure
- Older adults who depend on family or caregivers for transportation
- Residents in a private home, independent-living apartment or similar setting
- Established patients who need hearing-aid support and cannot come to the office
Services that may be available at home
- Hearing-aid consultations and needs discussions
- Hearing screenings or evaluations when the setting and equipment are appropriate
- Hearing-aid cleaning, troubleshooting and minor maintenance
- Programming, adjustments and follow-up care
- Hearing-aid fittings and caregiver education when arranged in advance
- Recommendations for office-based or medical follow-up when needed
Not every clinical service can be performed appropriately in every home. We will discuss the patient’s needs, location and circumstances before confirming the appointment.
Family and caregiver participation
A family member or caregiver may participate in the visit. This can be especially useful when discussing communication challenges, daily hearing-aid care, charging, cleaning, appointment follow-up and realistic listening goals.
Request an in-home hearing visit
Tell us why travel is difficult, where the patient is located and what type of hearing care is needed. We will contact you to determine whether an in-home visit is appropriate and discuss availability.
