Trials, Warranties and Care Plans
A trial period, manufacturer warranty, loss-and-damage benefit and clinic care plan are four different protections.
We explain each one separately and provide the exact terms for the selected hearing aids in writing.
What each term actually means
Trial or return period
The period in which a patient can evaluate the devices and return or exchange them under the written purchase terms. Professional fees or deadlines may apply.
Manufacturer repair warranty
Covers eligible manufacturing defects and covered repairs for the period supplied with the specific device.
Loss-and-damage coverage
May allow a limited replacement when a covered hearing aid is lost or damaged beyond repair, usually with a replacement fee and claim limits.
Clinic care plan
Defines included follow-up visits, adjustments, cleaning, troubleshooting and service after fitting.
Typical replacement fees at our practice
$200 per hearing aid
Typical for most technology levels, including many mid-tier hearing aids, when the applicable loss-and-damage benefit is available.
$250 per hearing aid
Typical for the highest technology levels under the applicable loss-and-damage coverage.
Starkey, Signia and Phonak warranties are not identical
Starkey
Starkey devices include model-specific repair warranty terms, and eligible products may include or qualify for loss-and-damage protection. Exact duration and replacement terms are confirmed on the order paperwork.
Signia
Signia warranty and repair coverage varies by product and order. Local warranty service is coordinated through the hearing-care provider, so the device-specific paperwork controls.
Phonak
Phonak supplies a limited international warranty, while local coverage and service terms are provided through the dispensing practice. Accessories and professional services may have different terms.
Common exclusions and separate charges
Consumable supplies
Domes, wax filters, batteries and routine supplies may not be part of the manufacturer repair warranty.
Accessories
Chargers, remote microphones, TV streamers and other accessories may have separate warranty periods.
Neglect or unauthorized repair
Abuse, improper modification or service outside authorized channels may affect coverage.
Professional services
Programming, Real Ear Measurement, cleaning and follow-up care are governed by the clinic package, not automatically by the manufacturer warranty.
Repeated loss claims
Loss-and-damage benefits commonly limit how many replacements are allowed during the coverage period.
Coverage after expiration
Manufacturer repair or replacement after the warranty period may require an out-of-warranty charge.
