Individual mobile hearing care where the resident lives
A resident of an independent-living, assisted-living, memory-care, retirement, active-adult, 50+ or 55+ community may request appropriate hearing care without waiting for a facility-wide event.
The request may be submitted by the resident, a family member, caregiver or authorized community staff member. We will contact the requester to discuss the resident’s needs, location and availability.
Care is led by Gwen Cantrell, BC-HIS, a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). Her added training supports clear communication, appropriate pacing and caregiver participation when memory or cognitive changes affect hearing-aid use. Review Gwen’s dementia-care training.
When memory changes affect device use, families and staff may also find our practical guide to hearing aids for seniors with memory loss or dementia useful.
Who can request a visit?
The Resident
A resident can request care directly when help is needed with hearing, hearing aids or follow-up service.
A Family Member or Caregiver
A relative or caregiver can coordinate the visit and participate when communication, maintenance or follow-up support is needed.
Community Staff
Authorized wellness, nursing, activity or community staff may help coordinate an individual resident request.
A Community Director
A director can request care for one resident or use the separate community-program pathway for multiple residents or recurring services.
Services that may be appropriate
- Hearing-aid cleaning, checks and basic maintenance
- Troubleshooting, adjustments and programming support
- Hearing-aid consultation, fitting support or follow-up care
- Hearing screening or evaluation when the setting and equipment are appropriate
- Caregiver education about charging, cleaning and daily use
- Recommendations for office-based or medical follow-up when needed
Not every clinical service can be provided appropriately in every residence or community setting. Some appointments require the sound-treated booth, specialized equipment or the Lawrenceville office.
